ABOUT TIM
I create what I feel. And what I feel, I film.
In January 2019, Tim Jonker borrowed money from his father to buy his first camera. “I’m going to make money with it, dad. I promise,” he texted him at the time. A few years later, he had travelled to over a hundred cities, worked for years as the dedicated filmmaker for Chris Stussy, produced the viral Uncut series and filmed in Hollywood for Michael Bibi.
Tim grew up in Breda and had tried different paths before filmmaking, from working in fashion to business telecom. But nowhere did he find the creative freedom he was looking for. Something was missing. The moment he bought that camera, everything started to flow. Without formal training, but with a strong intuitive feeling for capturing real stories, he stepped into something he never expected to feel so passionate about.
His first steps started in his hometown, filming small events, weddings and his first personal project: a documentary about his former fitness trainer Michiel de Groot. Not to make money, but to learn. To build experience. To find his style. He taught himself everything through YouTube, trial and error, and most of all by simply keeping going.
When the pandemic shut down the clubs, Tim came across a livestream by ANOTR and Toman on top of the A’DAM Tower in Amsterdam. Something about it hit him. “This is what I want to make,” he thought. And he immediately took action.
Within days, he produced his own pilot: a DJ set on the rooftop of House of Pertijs in Breda. Multiple cameras, drone shots, full edit — all produced independently. He sent the video to dozens of artists in the Dutch scene. The first to respond? ANOTR and Toman. The exact artists who had inspired him in the first place. The circle was complete.
From that moment on, things moved fast. Shortly after, Chris Stussy reached out. A coffee became a collaboration. A collaboration became a world tour. During that period, Tim decided to move to Amsterdam, closer to the scene, closer to the action. Together, they captured shows from New York to Sydney, created the Uncut series and developed a recognizable visual style that has since influenced creatives across the scene.
Tim’s style is raw, emotional and honest. He captures the real story. Whether it is a multicam production on the Hudson River in New York, an Uncut episode at Coachella, a fashion campaign for Baindoux or a cinematic real estate film for Château de Turenne.
What connects everything he makes? Feeling.
“I never studied this,” he says. “Everything comes from instinct. You can see that in the work.”
